Bumrungrad International Hospital
Designed by: Yann Leroy
Location: Soi 1, Bangkok, Thailand
Built area: 21,000 sq m
Outpatient Treatment Center
Bumrungrad International Hospital’s new outpatient clinic is located on a 4-rai (6,400 sq m) site adjoining the existing hospital campus, bordered by Sukhumvit Soi 1 to the east and the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway to the west. The design responds directly to these contrasting urban conditions, creating a building with two distinct architectural identities.
Facing the expressway, the clinic presents a streamlined and contemporary image that reflects the speed, precision and technological nature of modern medicine. A curved main façade and strong horizontal mullion system soften the building’s mass while creating a dynamic expression suited to the fast-moving cityscape.
Towards Sukhumvit Soi 1, the architecture shifts to a more intimate and human scale. Curves, colour and a welcoming entry plaza create a calmer environment focused on care, comfort and personal interaction. This dual character allows the clinic to express both the efficiency of advanced healthcare and the compassionate, patient-centred experience at the heart of medical treatment.
